hoh rain forest, Astoria-megler bridge, and a soggy bottom

I had a soggy start to my Pacific Coast Highway ride. I left Angeles, WA in the rain and visited the Hoh Rain Forest in the Olympic National Forest. I then road in the rain every foot of the 200 miles to Astoria, OR. They rain ride ended with a white knuckle ride across the Astoria-Megler bridge.

This was a rough ride and my rain gear began to fail. My feet were wet, my bottom got wet, and my wrists. My biggest issue was it was so cold my helmet shield kept fogging up. So I had to ride with it slightly open. This caused my glasses to get rain on them. There were a lot of comfort challenges, but the most hair raising was the game of is it a pothole or a puddle? I took frequent and short rest breaks and kept going. The worst was crossing the Astoria-Megler bridge, you cannot tell in the video, but there was a stiff cross wind with the rain.

I could not stop thinking about this song performed by the The Soggy Bottom Boys.

The forecast had another solid day of rain, so adjusted my trip, and decided to hang for a day in Astoria, WA.
