The Gear

Focus on camping

The biggest challenge in preparing for this trip was thinking through motorcycle camping. All my riding gear is well used and broken in. From my TCX boots to my Shoei Neotec II modular full face helmet, I have traveled thousands of miles with this gear. I wear layers of clothing to handle the temperatures, no leather, and when it rains I break out the Frogg Togg motorcycle rain suit. I am an Indian Motorcycle fan boy and wear a lot of their clothing and jackets.

A few guilty pleasures are my Tobacco Motorwear California Riding Jacket, Bad Lands Vest, and blonde roping gloves. I love the look and functionality of this clothing brand.

The rest of the gear is purchased at Duluth Trading Co. I use their long-sleeve shirts, base layers, jeans, underwear, and long compression socks. These clothes have provided miles of comfort and I saw no reason to change anything.

Preparing for camping was another story. I watched dozens of motorcycle campers / YouTubers from Itchy Boots, Living off the Slab, FTA Adventures, to FortNine to develop a simple and light gear list.

I had so many new things, I decided I needed a practice campout to shake down the gear. I made a video to explain all of this.
